Item ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS, INDUSTRIES AND THE GOVERNMENT – ROLES IN SUSTAINING THE DEVELOPMENT OF ENGINEERING ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCE(F.O Adeyemi, I. K. Akpodonor, I. M. Oyerinde, M. J. Odedina, O. O Olomo, O.O. Obanisola, S.O. Ogunrinde, & Y. O. Bodija (2021, August 24-26). Academic Institutions, Industries and the Government – Roles in sustaining the development of engineering entrepreneurial skills and competence., 2021) Adeyemi, F.O; Akpodonor, I.K; Oyerinde, I.M; Odedina, M.J; Olomo, O.O; Obanisola, O.O; Ogunrinde, S.O; Bodija, Y.OThere has been growing concern of high rate of unemployment among engineering graduates, roaming the nation’s streets in search for white collar jobs, despite the fact that entrepreneurial courses have been introduced to the engineering curriculum, as a distinct set of commercial skills and techniques to improve the employability of these graduates. This paper, which draws strength from detailed review of literature, presents views on how the academic institutions, industries and the government can help to reinforce, sustain and consolidate the engineering entrepreneurship programme, with the hope to produce well rounded, morally and intellectually capable engineering graduates with entrepreneurial skills, who could create jobs rather than look for jobs. This will go a long way to reduce the unemployment rate and enhance positive impact on national economic development. Some suggested roles which the academic institutions, industries and government can play in building the skills and competences of the engineering students include: frequent organization of seminars and practical classes or hands-on business activities based on innovative engineering projects, new business development, preparation of business plan, formation of strategic alliances or strong ties outside the university setting to include alumni and local businesses communities that can interface with the entrepreneurial program, mixing students from several engineering departments, and ensuring entrepreneurial courses which relate market needs to the research activities offered by academic institution. Similarly, more funds should be provided by the government for entrepreneurship programs and creation of adequate well equipped entrepreneurship centers across the nation.Item ADAPTATION AND USABILITY OF QUICK RESPONSE CODES FOR SUBSCRIPTION TO MOBILE NETWORK OPERATORS’ SERVICES(Anale. Seria Informatică., 2018-03-01) Akande, Noah Oluwatobi; Arulogun, Oladiran Tayo; Oyediran, Mayowa OyedepoMobile Network Operators (MNOs) permit subscribers to gain access to data, voice calls or short messaging services offered by their networks. Payments for any of these services could be via online payments platforms, short codes provided by financial institutions or the acquisition of recharge vouchers. Of these payment methods, the recharge voucher acquisition option remains the most widely used. However, illegal access to the recharge codes has not been totally eradicated and this has marred the recharge vouchers payment method. Therefore, this paper examined and demonstrated the feasibility of employing Quick Response (QR) code as a more secured payment alternative to recharge vouchers. Twitter fabric’s crashlytics tool was used to evaluate the performance of the developed QR code mobile payment method for a three month periods. A successful payment attempt and crash free sessions were experienced among 48 volunteers who used the application in 125 sessions.Item Airborne System for Pipeline Surveillance Using an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(European Journal of Engineering Research and Science, 2020-02-01) Olatunbosun, Adeboye; Benyeogor, Mbadiwe; Kumar, SushantOur work involves the development of a quadcopter Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) system with remote sensors onboard for monitoring oil and gas pipelines. In a bid to overcome this challenge, many residential buildings have become electrically self-sustaining by the integration of various backup power supply source. Yet the act of transition from one source to another has remained a manual task that tends to discourage users from going through the rigour. Internal combustion engine AC generators and batteries have been found to be the most common backup options. An automatic transition system that gives user the flexibility of monitoring and controlling resources remotely from a mobile phone application is thus presented in this paper. The microcontroller-based system monitors the status of the energy resources and protects the building against undervoltage or overvoltage conditions. Based on the state of charge of the battery and the fuel level in the generator, the system activates the appropriate alternative backup source in the event of an outage form the grid supply. This system affords users a new level of comfort and reliability of power supply, as in the automatic mode, the users are guaranteed power supply with minimal downtime, except when all resources are unavailable.Item Bioconversion of fruit wastes and effects of thermophilic hydrolysis for banana peel digestion(FERVAAP, 2017-07-25) Odedina, Mary Jesuyemi; Saritpongteeraka, Kanyarat; Charnnok, Boonya; Chaiprapat, SumateMethane production potential of tropical fruit wastes were compared by anaerobic digestion assay and stoichiometric Buswell's equation. Methane yields were in the order of banana peel, longan waste, and rambutan waste (330.6, 268.3, 234.6 and 193.2 mLCH 4 /gVS). Their calculated biodegradability related well with structural composition and properties. In continuous system operations on banana peel at feed concentrations 1%TS and 2%TS, mesophilic single stage digester (20-day HRT) failed at 2%TS. Prehydrolysis thermophilic reactor (4-d HRT) was placed as pre-treatment to mesophilic reactor (20-d HRT). Higher biogas and energy yields were obtained and greater system stability was achieved over the single stage digestion. The energy yield of 2510.9 kJ/kgVS was achieved at a feed concentration of 2%TS with thermophilic prehydrolysis.Item BIOGAS PRODUCTION FROM LIGNOCELLULOSIC WASTE MATERIALS(Ajayi Crowther University Press, 2020) Odedina, Mary Jesuyemi; Adeyemi, Festus Oluwasogo; Oladokun, Ajibola Samson; Olomo, Olutola OmobowaleItem Characterisation and Grading of Four Selected Timber Species Grown in Nigeria in Accordance with Bs 5268(Nigeria Journal of Technology (NIJOTECH), 2021-07-04) Wilson, U.N.; Mohammad, Y.N.; Mohammed, I.S.; Adeyemi, F.O.This study presents a development of strength classes for Vitex doniana, Diospyros mespliformis, Parkia biglobosa and Isoberlinia doka, northern Nigeria timber species in accordance with BS 5268-2 (2002) and NCP 2 (1973). Biogas and solar power are renewable energy sources which can be utilized as a backup in case of power interruption. The present work focuses the ability of biogas production using both human and kitchen waste of a selected building to generate electricity. The expected biogas yield, power generated output, total component cost of the system and payback period is compared to total component cost of installing solar PV system for the same load. The analysis enable us to ascertain the viability of biogas compared to other renewable energy resources. These data are used to determine the standalone component sizes, installation cost and the pay-back periods of both systems. Each component part of both systems were sized according to the load and appropriate costing and its equivalent payback period of 8 years 5 months 8 days and 61 days for solar PV and biogas was obtained respectively. The results obtained were used to determine which of the system is economically friendly and cost effective. Analysis shows that it is cheap, profitable, economically friendly, cost effective and reliable when biogas plant is used as an alternative source of power supply compared to standalone solar PV system. However, the sizing and estimation perfectly meets the station energy requirement. Hence, biogas plant is recommended for this application due to its economic viability.Item A COMPUTATIONAL MODEL FOR SIMULATING THE GROWTH OF BIOGASPRODUCING BACTERIA FOR PREDICTING PRODUCTION RATE OF SUSTAINABLE AND AFFORDABLE CLEAN ENERGY(2020) Oladokun, Ajibola S; Ogunrinde, Samuel O; Bodija, Yusuf O.; Odedina, Mary J.Item Design and Implementation of a GSM based Electronic Appliances Monitoring and Controlling System(International Journal of Advanced Research in Computer and Communication Engineering, 2016-03-01) Oyediran, Mayowa Oyedepo; Akande, Noah OluwatobiThis paper presents a GSM based electronic appliances monitoring and controlling system. O.; Obetta, J. L.; Oyediram, M. O.; Elegbede, A. W.The increasing demand for airline services amidst limited resources results in passenger dissatisfaction and dwindling revenue for airports and airlines. The dynamics of service demand and resource supply results in check-in issues for the stakeholders in the commercial aviation industry. This has the effect of impacting negatively on service performance, cost of operations, customer satisfaction, and overall throughput. Hence, this paper modelled the travelers’ check-in process at the “D Wing” of the Departure Section of Murtala Mu hammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, using Arena Software Tool. The work was carried out by determining the parameters of the queues at designated service points in the check-in process. The primary data required to develop the model were acquired by direct observation of passenger flow and oral interview. Thus, the average check-in time was determined. Thereafter, a model of the international check-in system of the MMIA was developed using Arena software in combination with Microsoft Office tools. The data collected were therefore inputted into the model and simulated; the real result was compared with the simulation result of 133 completions and there was no significant difference. The result showed that the model is a re presentation of the real system under study. Further work will be tailored to wards simulation(i.e. the model will be subjected to experimentation in order to have different scenario).Item DEVELOPMENT OF A PC SOFTWARE BASED WIRELESS WEATHER MONITORING SYSTEM FOR DATA ACQUISITION(International Journal of Scientific Development and Research (IJSDR), 2023-08-01) Ogunkeyede, O.Y.; Olatunde, T.M.; Ekundayo, O.T; Adenle, J.G.; Komolafe, T.AAccurate monitoring and measurement of weather conditions with the parameters are important for weather analysis in evaluating the performance and prediction of the future of the raining and sunny days. O.; Fagbola, T. M.; Olabiyisi, S. O.; Omidiora, E. O.A mobile agent is a software entity that migrates from one host to another, performing data collection and software configuration tasks on behalf of users in distributed networks. However, studies have shown that the existing pull – all data strategy of mobile agent migration pattern moves data from one host to the next host along with the mobile agent, thereby resulting in data accumulation which lowers the performance of the mobile agent in terms of transmission time and network load. This research developed an optimized mobile agent migration pattern for the pull-all data strategy in distributed networks using path strategy of Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) technique. The obtained results shows that the optimized pull-all data migration pattern developed produced lower network load and transmission time than the existing pull-all data migration pattern.
